Program
Information
Stretch-n-Grow IS the PREMIER children's fitness and health
education program for children ages 2-5 here in Central Montgomery County. In
fact, Stretch-n-Grow IS the ONLY children's health and fitness program with
affiliates AROUND THE WORLD! That means Stretch-n-Grow STARS participate in
Stretch-n-Grow classes throughout the world everyday! When it's midnight here,
Stretch-n-Grow STARS in other parts of the world like Australia, Guatemala,
Ireland, Guam, New Zealand, Hong Kong, Spain, Portugal, the United Kingdom,
Puerto Rico, and Canada are stretchin-n-growin almost twenty-four hours
around the clock! It also means Stretch-n-Grow is the ONLY (that's ONLY)
children's fitness and health education program with CURRICULUM developed and
revised under the supervision of an Advisory Board. The Stretch-n-Grow Advisory
Board is made up of pediatricians, nutritionists, and early childhood
educators! WOW!
BUT . . . that's not all! Stretch-n-Grow is so popular because of the fun, fun, fun children have while they learn, learn, learn! Children love participating in the fun games and activities, moving to fun adventure stories and music, and using kid-friendly and developmentally-appropriate equipment! It has been our world-wide experience that children love learning about their muscles and about good nutrition as they have fun exercising!
About our curriculum:
The Stretch-n-Grow CURRICULUM is designed to promote wellness that will last a lifetime! Because the Stretch-n-Grow program is based on a three-year health and fitness CURRICULUM, Stretch-n-Grow assists parents and child care providers to meet the Pennsylvania Department of Education Standards for Physical Education set out for pre-kindergarten children. In addition, the Stretch-n-Grow CURRICULUM complies with the National Youth Fitness Guidelines established by the American Fitness and Aerobics Association and the American Council on Exercise - the two leading authorities in group fitness today. Therefore, each Stretch-n-Grow class incorporates not only all of the components of fitness but also a lesson on healthy living habits!
Here are a few of the Stretch-n-Grow program benefits:
Enhanced motor skills and improved coordination |

How we communicate:
On a quarterly basis, owners, directors, and assistant directors of child care facilities receive The Pennsylvania SNG STAR! This is a newsletter developed by the Pennsylvania Stretch-n-Grow affiliates especially for you! The newsletter is packed with information you can use immediately to communicate with the parents of the children you serve. The newsletter contains articles on health observances, the latest trends and statistics in childhood obesity, healthy eating tips and recipes, and articles from other directors . . . for directors. Plus, the newsletter keeps you assured that you have the PREMIER fitness and health education program at your centers. Having Stretch-n-Grow at your facility sets you apart from other area facilities and may even help you attain a higher PA Keystone Star rating. |
We encourage owners, directors, and assistant directors to advertise that Stretch-n-Grow is the house! To help with that effort, we offer links on our websites to your website. |
On a monthly basis, parents receive EXERCiting News, a newsletter outlining what their Stretch-n-Grow STARS will be learning. This newsletter encourages family fitness while reinforcing the concepts, topics, and exercises taught in class. |
In addition to the monthly newsletter, parents also receive weekly handouts to emphasize good health habits throughout the week. |
